Clinical DirectorDIHS has a career opportunity for a Clinical Director who will serves as on-site Medical Authority within the scope of the services provided by the organization reporting to and seeking guidance from the Chief of Medical Staff as appropriate. Is responsible for developing and coordinating all aspects of health care delivery at the Service Processing Center. Provides and oversees care appropriate to patient needs, severity of disease, condition, impairment, or disability within the scope of care provided in the detention setting (short stay unit care and/or ambulatory care) and within the mission, vision, and goals of the organization. Assures that appropriate diagnostic services are available, utilized and monitored. Incumbent has clinical supervision over the Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants. In the event that the Health Services Administrator is a non-clinical person, the incumbent will also have clinical supervisory responsibility over the nursing staff and pharmacy. Assures clinical knowledge, skills, and responsibilities of SPC staff. Serves as chairperson of local performance improvement and Pharmacy Therapeutics Committee. Responsible for appropriate contributions as directed by the HSA to accreditation preparation and survey process.
Required to remain abreast of emerging treatment regimens, be conversant clinically with medical literature, and provide assistance to national professional associations. Incumbent works under the general supervision of the Chief, Medical Staff. Supervision is in the nature of national policies and priorities of the DIHS and local priorities, which the incumbent has helped to establish for program development and implementation. Coordinates activities with the HSA. The incumbent must exercise a high degree of independence, initiative, judgment, and follow-through on a wide range of sensitive, complex, and clinical issues. All development and follow-up is performed independently. Work is reviewed to determine the successful accomplishment of policy and program objectives. Qualifications:
Must remain flexible and be able to adapt to sudden changes in schedules and work requirements. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. |
