T. Don Hutto Family Residential Facility

Taylor

About our facility

The T. Don Hutto Residential Center is one of two facilities in the nation to house detainee families. In support of the Secure Border Initiative, the family residential concept allows families to remain together while awaiting the outcome of their immigration proceedings. Opened in May of 2006, the 512 bed facility has been remodeled to accommodate the needs of family units in a non-secure detention setting. The resident population can range in age from newborn to geriatric; therefore the spectrum of needs varies accordingly. The residential setting accommodates a seven hour school day for school aged children, a well baby program, immunization program and host of recreational and religious activities. This is a unique setting within the Division of Immigration Health Services that offers clinicians an opportunity to work with the pediatric and adult population in the context of a family unit.

Meet our staff and see what we do

Operated by the Division of Immigration Health Services, the ambulatory clinic is staffed by a core group of Public Health Service Officers and contract personnel. Emphasis is placed on the well being of our pediatric population consistent with our mission. Parents play an active role in the decision making process regarding the heatlh care of their children. The medical professionals work with the parents in this decision making process. Our staff includes a Pediatrician, Mid-level providers, Nurses, Social Workers, a Dentist, and various administrative support personnel.

We work as a team to meet the Division's mission of preventing the spread of disease globally through the provision of primary health care.
