Santa Ana Staging Facility
About our facilityThe Orange County Medical Staging Facility, located in Santa Ana, California, opened in July 2005 as a temporary staging facility while renovations were completed at the Los Angeles Staging Facility. After a year and a half of operations in Santa Ana, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) needed increased processing throughput capacity and decided to retain the medical operations at the Orange County Staging Facility. The Orange County Medical Staging Facility's mission is to medically screen detainees so they receive appropriate medical care and are cleared for placement into the ICE Los Angeles area detention system. The detainees are continuously monitored throughout the process, ensuring optimal safety for staff and detainees alike. The facility provides health screens and chest x-rays for over 800 detainees a month from Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. In order to accommodate the high volume of processing during the week and the transportation challenges with weekday congestion on the Los Angeles area freeways, the Santa Ana Staging Facility operates Monday through Friday, 5AM to 11PM. All after-hours and weekend screening are done at the Los Angeles Medical Staging Facility.
